A research project designed to build a classification system suited to videogames. This projet resulted in a website featuring a collaborative classification system based on multiple criterias. The games are classified according to their gameplay, their purposes, their markets and target audience, alongside with user-contributed keywords.

Kaisha (a.k.a Kompany) is a Serious Game, available on social networks such as Facebook, that enables students in 8th and 9th grade to discover Corporate life through gameplay! The game helps teenagers learn the essential vocabulary used in the workplace and the principal mechanisms that underlie corporate activity. This project is initiated and coproduced with the French Ministry of Education.


Mahjian
Mahjian [Damien Djaouti / 2010-2011]

Mahjian is an "Alternate Reality Game" who took place during 6 month (from january to june 2011) in the city of Blagnac, France. Proposing puzzles to solve on Internet mixed with real-life treasure hunts throughout the city, alongside with a giant game-show as a closing event, this game was designed to promote the cultural activities of Blagnac city.

A Serious Game, based on a car simulator, designed to teach how to drive in a ecological way. The player has to drive a car in a city to reach a place in a limited amount of time. The goal of the game is to try to reduce the amount of C02 produced by the car through an "ecological" style of driving: taking the habit to brake "softly", learning how to shift gears, knowing when to turn the engine off...

Flee the Skip is a multiplayer Serious Game. You need 4 users to play. The game improves your solidarity by stressing you by this way: be able to escape from the skip in 20 minutes. But all the players must flee away. If one of you is left, the game is over. The players control mobile phones.

Gargas cave
Gargas cave [Julian Alvarez / 2006-2006]

A serious game created the 100th anniversary celebration of the "Gargas caves", a prehistoric site located in France. Famous for its negative wall-paintings of hands and its overlapping engravings of animal figures, part of this cave is unfortunately no longer visitable. Indeed, public access limited to avoid the deterioration (due to lightning and or CO2 rejected by breathing visitors) of its historical treasures.

Generic-SG
Generic-SG [Damien Djaouti, Julian Alvarez / 2012-2014]

Generic-SG is a 2 year R&D project aiming to develop and to evaluate a prototype of online platform dedicated to rapid Serious Games creation for university courses. It emphasizes over a semi-automated creation of games for each given theme, and a low cost of developing a new games for any kind of university course. This project gathers several partners, including development studios and the "teaching technology departments" from all the public French universities.

Gam.B.A.S. 2.0
Gam.B.A.S. 2.0 [Damien Djaouti / 2007-2008]

Direct successor of the Gam.B.A.S. project,this new project aimes to build a new software tool able to ease the creation of videogames. To achieve this goal, it relies on the idea of "Gameplay Bricks", in order to allow real-time creation and modification of the rules of the game through an high-level of abstraction.

The e-virtuoses is an international event dedicated to Serious Games. It features a rich program of international conferences about the future of the field, a Serious Games Awards ceremony to celebrate the best titles of the moment, alongside with a scientific symposium focused on the analysis of Serious Games. The event took place from June 4th to 5th in France, in the city of Valenciennes, near Lille.

The European Serious Games Awards
The European Serious Games Awards [Damien Djaouti / 2012-2012]

The European Serious Games Awards aims to celebrate the best works on games for learning in Europe. Organized by GALA (an European Network of Excellence dedicated to research on Serious Games), these awards are quite different from other awards. Instead of relying on the sole advice of a few experts, the European Serious Games Awards are based on a scientific analysis of the games. The Awards ceremony took place during the VS-Games 2012 conference. Organized in Genoa (Italy) from 29 to 31 October 2012, a total of 4 awards were given: 2 Best Learning Game Awards (1st and 2nd place), 1 Best Learning Game Evaluation Award and 1 Best Student Academic Paper award.

In association with the multimedia workshop and the game library of the Odyssud cultural centre, located in Blagnac (near Toulouse, in France), we ran a local edition of the international game creation contest called "Global Game Jam". The contestants had 48h to design an experimental videogame on the theme "Extinction".

In order to celebrate the official registration of our Ludoscience association, we organized a party at "La Cantine" in Toulouse (France). We proposed a selection of Serious Games to play, but we also introduced a wide selection of great french wines to taste and drink.

Games And Learning Alliance (GALA)
Games And Learning Alliance (GALA) [Damien Djaouti / 2011-2015]

The Games And Learning Alliance (GALA) is an European Network of Excellence gathering researchers and industrials from all over Europe involved in the field of Serious Games. GALA aims to shape the scientific community and build a European Virtual Research Centre aimed at gathering, integrating, harmonizing and coordinating research on Serious Games and disseminating knowledge, best practices and tools as a reference point at an international level. The other key focuses of the project are: the support to deployment in the actual educational and training settings; the fostering of innovation and knowledge transfer through research-business dialogue; the development high-quality didactics on SG by promoting and supporting courses at Master and PhD level.
